学习英语还真挺难的，只是会背单词还远远不够。有时候，一个中文释义可能在英语中对应好几个不同的单词虽然wish和hope都会背，但是具体的用法还是模糊不清；abandon和give up在语法中又该如何运用呢？今天我们来盘点几组常常出错的词汇，一起来看看吧✔
Using 'wish' is more proper when referring to impossible or unlikely events, while 'hope' conveys reasonable confidence. 简言来说hope和wish都表示希望，不过hope更侧重于发生概率较大的事情有希望，而wish是相对较小的事情有希望。
example
I wish to travel.(but I do not)
我希望我明天就出去旅游。（实际发生的概率很小）
I wish you were here. (A common expression if we would like someone to be with us who can't.)
我希望你能在这里。（这是一个歪果仁非常常用的表达方式，表示我们很希望和某个人在一起，但是实际发生概率很小。）
I hope he will win.我希望他赢。（实际发生的概率很大）
这俩词都有影响的意思，不过在使用上有很大不同。affect作为动词使用，指的是对某物施加影响，或导致某物的改变（常用作被动语态），而effect作为名词使用，强调的是结果。

If A affects B, B experiences the effect of A's action.
'To affect' is the verb expressing the process which ends with a result. This result is the 'effect' which is a noun.
如果A的行为影响了B，那边B所经历的一切是原因是受A的影响。下面来看个例子
Imagine Jack (A) pushes Mary (B) into a pond. Jack affects where Mary is standing. Mary being wet is the effect of Jack’s irresistible urge to push her into a pond.
various 和variable 都是由表示变化的动词vary 加后缀派生而成，其中various意思是“各种各样的，不同的，有变化的”。 Variable意思是“可变的，可更改的”，含有被动意义。 example for various reasons, we must take action to control the growth of population. (由于种种原因，我们必须采取措施控制人口增长。) Have you taken all the variable factors into account in your calculations? (在你的计算中有没有把所有的可变因素考虑进去？) 词汇辨析是英语学习中极为重要的部分，而且也是小伙伴们学习的重点和难点。在这里特别提醒大家：不要过分追求词汇量的积累，从而忽略了词汇在各种语境中的不同作用。在认识新单词的时候要结合语境去体会其中含义，活学活用。 比较好的背单词方法是：在大量阅读中学习单词，精读与泛读相结合，结合语境记忆。
